Experience
I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Russian language and literacy along with a minor in linguistics and my graduate degree from Wayne State University in speech and language pathology. I have worked with students in grades K-12 as a speech therapist for more than three years and I am passionate about helping students of all ages develop their literacy skills. I have worked with students both in the classroom and in individual sessions. I currently tutor reading, writing, essay editing, phonics, English, vocabulary, English grammar and syntax, Russian, and languages. I also help students who are preparing for the SAT and GRE. It is important for a tutor to take the time to get to know their student and what makes them comfortable if a speech therapy session is going to be successful. The same is true for the tutoring process when a student is struggling with a subject area. I know how valuable it is to be able to weave a student's interests into a session and how well it can motivate them to do their very best. It also makes the lessons more personally engaging for the student and helps to accelerate the learning process.
